2019: A Christmas that Improved Access to Education

For Christmas 2019, our customers committed to helping us support education in Ghana. Thanks to their hard work, a new school is going to be built in one of our producer communities in Ghana.

For more than 30 years, Valrhona has been helping producer organizations to develop, and communities’ living conditions to improve.

In 2019, we decided to pick up the pace and take things a step further in our work to support education in Ghana. This was why we asked our customers to join us in making this Christmas all about giving back to others.

From September 1 to December 31, 2019, we raised €1 for every 3kg bag of Single Origin Grand Cru chocolate sold.

With our customers’ help, we were able to raise €160,000 for education in Ghana!

This donation will fund building work for a new elementary school designed to welcome six classes of children in Bosomtwe, in western Ghana’s Tarkwa district.
Work is due to start in the first half of 2020.
This new elementary will open alongside the existing kindergarten and high schools, so children in the area will have a full suite of educational options.
To find out how the project is progressing, remember to check out our website’s news page as often as you can!
